Residential and commercial real estate transactions in New York City often present complex and unique challenges.
A focal point of the firm's practice is representing clients in the acquisition and disposition of condominium and cooperative units, new construction developments and existing conversion projects, townhouses, commercial buildings, mixed-use buildings, and office space throughout the New York City market.
The firm handles all aspects of real estate transactions, including conducting due diligence review, preparation and negotiation of contracts of sale, negotiation of loan documents, title clearance, and closings. Our due diligence review includes, but is not limited to, reviewing building financials, board minutes, offering plans, and engaging management companies to independently verify unit-specific conditions and complaints.
The firm has particular focus and experience handling Internal Revenue Code ("I.R.C.") 1031 exchanges, purchases involving loan consolidation, extension and modification agreements ("CEMAs"), Housing Development Fund Corporation ("HDFC") transactions, land leases, and we have extensive experience handling transactions involving foreign investors.

Coop/Condo General Counsel

ATTORNEY PROFILE
Andrew C. Jorges is the firm’s founder and focuses his practice on residential and commercial real estate transactions and disputes. During his career, Andrew has participated in over one thousand real estate transactions with an aggregate value in excess of five hundred million dollars consisting of cooperative and condominium units, townhouses, multi-family properties, and commercial properties throughout the New York metropolitan area. He also has extensive experience representing cooperative and condominium boards throughout New York City, as well as handling complex litigation matters related to contract disputes, specific performance, partition actions, landlord/tenant matters, and general commercial litigation.
Andrew has been selected to the Super Lawyers 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 New York Metro Rising Stars list in the area of Real Estate Law and Business, an honor that is limited to no more than 2.5% of the attorneys in New York State.
Andrew has been quoted in the New York Times and frequently lectures at some of the most prominent real estate brokerages in New York City. He is licensed by the New York Department of State to teach continuing education courses in the field of residential and commercial real estate.
In addition to owning and operating the Jorges Law Firm, PLLC, Andrew is Of Counsel to the law firm Adam Leitman Bailey, P.C. where he collaborates on highly complex real estate transactions and disputes throughout New York State.
Prior to starting his practice, Andrew worked at several boutique real estate law firms where he handled a variety of real estate matters including transactional real estate, real estate litigation, and provided general counsel to boards of directors and managers in connection with various facets of building management and operations. Andrew previously worked in the New York office of the accounting firm KPMG, LLP as an auditor.
